I like this statement about her work:

" The foundation of her work is the idea of a neutral space whose potential is first realized through the drawing and is what consciously positions Heike Weber within the critically reflected tradition of Minimal Art. Judd's cubes, Andre's metal plates or Morris' serial objects had focused for the first time on the referentiality of art to its neutral environs... The reality of the room is confirmed, classically, stroke for stroke, line by line, only the next minute to be thrown out of sync. The gestural input, the physical working on a picture support that expands in all directions, seems to veer towards a momentum that now on its part appropriates the viewer. It is not the object on view that finds its irreconcilable and multi-angled visibility made manifest, but the ‘specific object' that strikes back. "

I had a great day and really fantastic weekend. I had the studio to myself and began printing three projects, with another couple on the way. My plans for the fall are coming along beautifully: I secured an internship for the fall with pistachio press and I could not be more excited about it. I also received some really constructive feedback about my current work today, which is always encouraging and invigorating. It makes me want to just spend all of my time in the studio.

I'm now quite sure that what I'm attempting to communicate visually is nearly impossible to do successfully... but hopefully I'm getting closer. This weekend I started sewing onto paper again, and began to think about photographs, white, and all things that grow.

As of today, I've been thinking a lot about texture, thanks to pistachiopress' Rachael Hetzel who showed me some really interesting prints this evening. I hadn't even considered embossing the paper by hand. 

Lots to think about. On days like today I wish I could spend all of my time in the studio. and I'm still not sure if this is an "e-sketchbook" or something for general consumption. and I can't wait to start printing again. (but) there is so much to do.
